The New Englander's and other cold weather survivors know of my jubilance. Not until the next frigid snow flake falls, do we want to recognize anything but the rays, beaches and colorful, vibrant seasonal clothing of Summer. So here is a small list of fun activities that will keep you cool and collected, gaining big family points along the way.
Staycation Revisited
Should you go this route check around your local AAA agencies for a vacation guide. They offer great tips, rates and family oriented activities. All U.S. states provide a Spring/Summer vacation guide of some sort. Include all household members in the final decision instead informing them of the "choice." This will lessen the resentment and all voices involved will feel heard and wanted on the outing.
Throw A Party!
You do not have to be a Party Planner in order to plan the best one ever. Consult online sites for themes, venues, home or otherwise, number of people per party capita, colors, menus, budget, etc. While you could spend days, try to take a few moments each day or ask other housemates for assistance. Whatever you decide, rock on!
Plan A Night Out
Busy schedules, soccer, school activities and basically our not so calm everyday lives, we need to take time for the Guys and Girls. Evite a suggested night preferably when babysitters and schedules can be mutually secured. Circumstances permitting, make it a decent time out not an over calculated or regimented timeframe. Remember, you are not at the office. We have all stepped away from someone or something for this time away but do yourself a favor and turn down the cell. Trust me all in attendance will appreciate it.
Can't Do A Night-How 'Bout A Couple 'Hours
Choosing relaxation as touched on is a fabulous way to treat yourself if seeking personal solace.
One word: Massage
Try a one or multiple hour massage-check locations, specials. Depending on time of day some include lunch or light yet filling snacks. Who wants a heavy meal after a spa treatment anyway? Certain spas compliment guests with champagne, can you say....MIMOSAS! Book early so you are not disappointed as it is the season!
Movies! Movies! Movies!
We are in a pretty good place for seasonal cinema. Local opera houses and theatres too will publicize lower rates to draw in larger vacationing crowds to local attractions and dining. They may have a combination of discounts supporting area worthwhile family fare.
Give Back!
Paying it forward is rewarding and fun. Research fundraisers, volunteer building projects and team building for encouraging youth and supporting seniors. You will not regret it!
Let me know what you come up with!
Have an awesome time!
