Appreciate The Everyday

At times all you need to do is stop, take a deep breath and look around. Take in the day, enjoy the sun, sights, tastes of life. We have an opportunity each day to appreciate what we have, what we have built and what we are blessed with. You will be enriched by drinking in the moment.

Appreciate the life you have been given-
Appreciate the fun times you share with loved ones-
Appreciate the love you share and receive-
Appreciate the moments that won't be repeated-
Appreciate the humility and the works in progress-
Appreciate the alone time, meditate on the journey-
Appreciate the mental pictures not the camera phone-
Appreciate the real friends and family that make your world go 'round-
Appreciate the adversity and embrace the transition-
Appreciate yourself but focus on others and how they add value to your life-

Each day offers an opportunity to embrace, love and appreciate everything we have been given. Take the time, take the moment, to be grateful, thankful and hopeful, because tomorrow is not promised. So cherish every moment.

Until next time~

Don't Get Left Out In The Cold-Tips For A Successful Winter-Net

Working out a steady connective plan in winter months can be tough. Any one experiencing the seasonal tundra knows what I am talking about.

Our usual jaunt quickly becomes a 5-mile long distance excursion after the first, uh-oh snow flake makes its annual appearance.  We now have to rise earlier, plan for a longer travel day in dark-thanks to the absence of dear old Daylight Savings Time.

Give yourself a break with these tried and true ways to staying connected, revitalized and building stronger trustworthy bonds so you don’t lose momentum.

Swap- Get a group no larger than 10 people together for a clothes, accessories and shoes swap. A really cool idea if you add a theme. In winter I plan a Spring/Summer event and throw in an evening buffet that doesn’t break the bank because on the Evite you ask everyone to bring their good as new garments, etc. and a covered dish.

I love Mexican food so that is my go-to for a fresh spring themed event. The deal is to keep on giving. We gather anything leftover and donate it. This year I donated goods to several states and countries and it felt terrific!

Dessert Dash Donate- Everyone loves dessert! Find a mutual cause requiring a donation. Send out an invite asking someone in the group to host. Each person brings a dessert, a donated item based on a chosen theme, maybe a little something extra for a gift basket. Typically you have the party close to the time of a community event so you can transport the items right to a donation site within your area. As the host, you prepare the coffee/beverage, reusable sacks to collect and transport and of course a donated item.

Keep the dessert time to 2 hours or less, setting up future meet-ups. Toss names into a hat as to who will make the drop off, rewarding that person with a small gift basket of sweets and treats. Need theme ideas: back to school, spring forward fall back, celebrate entrepreneurial success, the choices are endless. Whatever you decide to do-make it fresh and unique.

Staycation Connection- Find local activities that satisfy a crowd, encourages conversation, not always gender biased. Create a “draw straws” invite with popular selection as the destination winner. Incorporate fun facts about the venue. Find day packages which include snacks or other amenities to reduce additional travel. There are fantastic. Schedule when many events are free.

Once a year here in Connecticut, almost every museum, arts and sciences, concerts, feature a free day or at least ginormous discounts-of course I had to miss it this year by traveling out of town. There are so many free alternatives year round too. Run of the mill networking sites do a decent job but think beyond the usual and your connectors will thank you for it.

Don’t hibernate-coordinate

Until next time~

What Will It Take?

What will it take for you to start your business? For starters, getting rid of the excuses. I have pretty much heard them all. I have to work my "real" job. My spouse won't help me. I need an extra day in the week. I need a degree. Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. STOP! STOP! STOP THE MADNESS!

For one thing, the only ONE holding you back is YOU. Over the last two days I have experienced serious internet issues. Back in the day I would never have attempted repairing my own hard drive, reconfiguring software or anything else classified as Techie. The reason I finally built up the courage to succeed is multi-faceted.

Not wanting inherent debt stemming from retaining an IT department smartened me up very quickly. I took online courses, honest advice and hands on experience to enable instead of being the victim of a scam artist by learning updated applications and terminology. Believe me, I had a better night's sleep once I knew what not to pay for, where to obtain free education and how to maneuver the ever changing social media components, with their sticky wickets and bugaboos. Yes I said it.

If you haven't guessed by now, I released the fear and turned it into positive, workable qualities. These became marketable tools that harvest a client base I could not have dreamed of. Offering a variety of services from web building, social media, IT, along with editing and publishing services makes me a viable one-stop-shop location and a dream for novice and expert writers-five years running and showing no signs of stopping.

"If you build it they will come" You better believe it!

I'm just getting fired up on this topic so stay tuned-so for now-

Build the courage, build the concepts. Build the life you want.

Get Crackin!

Until next time~

Where do you rank on the confidence meter? It's time for a self-examination-

Can We Talk? No Really,Talk

I like technology as much as the next person. I built a business with it. However, we all need to know when to unplug. If your every move is maneuvered by abbreviated verbiage.

Or your walk with a friend who you haven't seen in months is inspired by your ability to text, walk and shop instead of looking in their face for direct communication-UNPLUG.

But let's take a step back for a moment. The habits we create are mirrored by our young people, wait, earlier. Toddlers poke, punch and play on electronics long before the age of two. Becoming not so subtle influencers of our atmosphere, we have to differentiate what is best for the next generation.

Simply Real Moms has the right idea. Check out their tried and true concepts to keep your kids minds and socialization on point: http://www.simplyrealmoms.com/posts/unplug-me-10-activities-without-tv/
My favorites from their list: #2, #5, #6. What are yours?

I'm not leaving the grown-ups out either. When you schedule time to meet with someone for coffee, give Skype a rest once in a while. Connecting with others is actually an essential component in satisfying our need for human contact and interaction. Some of late have lost the ability to hold a sensible conversation. Having become shy when otherwise never having this issue. Disengagement, withdrawal from social activities has become the order of the day.

Why not meet for a meal. Make it healthy to encourage mental clarity and positivity.
Get creative by having everyone participate. Each person that accepts an invitation can contribute a small covered dish. Example: small fruit salad, homemade oatmeal, veggie quiche. Fun choices are endless, increase engagement and can prove to be a motivator.

Don't stop there. Establish another meeting date for the group and expand to increase your network reach. Have fun with this by not making it overly structured, but keep a soft timeline because after all, we have to work some time.

While these tips are yes, online, remember. It is always a good idea to have a healthy, balanced view of the world of technology around us. Just don't forget the people we learn, love and laugh with.

It's not always about how quickly you connect, but the connections you make for a lifetime.

Until next time!
